Nodal Exchange and Compute Desk to launch Compute Futures Contracts

Compute Desk

GPU compute futures on Nodal Exchange will financially settle against Compute Desk's daily, blended GPU price indexes, bringing standardized risk management tools to the compute market.

WASHINGTON, DC | New York, New York – September 03, 2026

Nodal Exchange, a leading U.S. power derivatives exchange offering the world’s largest suite of locational power futures contracts, and Compute Desk, a premier provider of compute data and benchmark indexes for the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) compute ecosystem, today announced plans to launch a new suite of GPU compute futures contracts on Nodal Exchange, bringing standardized risk management tools to the rapidly expanding compute market.

By pairing Compute Desk's IOSCO-compliant GPU rental price indexes with Nodal's clearing and exchange infrastructure, the collaboration allows participants to take a position or hedge against GPU rental pricing on Hopper, Blackwell and beyond.

These new compute futures will financially settle against Compute Desk’s daily, blended GPU price indexes.

“Nodal has the majority of the North American power futures open interest, and power is a significant operating cost for data centers. By offering the leading set of power and compute contracts on the same venue, Nodal is positioned to be the exchange of choice for the hedging and trading needs of the AI economy,” said Paul Cusenza, Chairman and CEO of Nodal Exchange.

“Compute Desk offers best-in-class compute price indexes based on an exclusive coverage of private compute transactions, as well as their robust benchmark administration methodology,” said Christian Schneider, Chief Strategy Officer at Nodal. “We are excited to enter the compute market with such a strong partner.”

“Standardized, exchange-traded contracts are the missing layer of the AI stack. They're what let operators hedge, let financiers underwrite, and let a price actually mean something. Oil, power, and grain all got there. Compute is next,” said Ariel Deschapell, Hydrahost Co-Founder and CTO of Hydra, a major compute Neocloud.

“Compute has become a full-on financial asset class. For the first time, hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, AI labs and their lenders will be able to manage their financial exposures to compute. Partnering with Nodal creates institutional risk-transfer products including CFTC-regulated compute futures on a leading exchange, cleared by Nodal Clear,” said Andrawes Bahou, Founder and CEO of Compute Desk. “We chose to partner with Nodal, for their world-leading coverage of power and electricity, an obvious nexus to compute.”

These contracts are scheduled to be available this year, subject to regulatory compliance.
